MBA |
|
A primary goal of the MBA degree is to educate students about advanced ideas and procedures in the business world. In addition, however, the degree is designed to provide the skills necessary for graduates to conduct research about business that will improve business efficiency and competitiveness. Although each of the nine courses for the MBA will be condensed, the content and the standards will parallel the MBA courses taught at Carleton University. The MBA courses taught in Iran will be graded by Carleton University professors. Students who successfully complete all nine courses and other requirements for the MBA will be awarded a Carleton University MBA degree. |
|
What are the courses required for the MBA degree? The Sprott School of Business started a new MBA in September 2008. However, since our Cohort 7 students as well as some of our Cohorts 5 and 6 students are studying based on the old programme, the list of the courses of the old programme are left here while that of the new programme is given as well. Though the new list can be accessed directly through the following link: http://sprott.carleton.ca/mba/intlbusiness.html.
The New Programme
The new programme comprises two series of courses, Core Courses and Concentrations. Since the MBA which is delivered by Carleton in Iran is directed towards International Business, below we just give the list of concentrations of this discipline.
Courses
The courses offered provide an overall view of global business as well as specific consideration of relevant operational and strategic tools. For those centrally concerned with international business, the courses will help explain concepts acquired in the field and provide a framework to extend their experience.
Required concentration courses (International Business):

The research project must represent the results of the candidate's independent to graduate studies at the Sprott School of Business. Previous work of the candidate may be used only as introductory or background material for the research project. The students are encouraged however, to devote research topics to managerial issues pertaining to Iran on the whole and Qeshm Island in particular.
It is expected that students who have an undergraduate business degree will take approximately 16 months to complete the MBA degree. Those students whose undergraduate degree is not in business, will require approximately 20 months to complete the MBA degree.
In order to make the program suit those in full time employment, the designing has been made so that the first four of the above courses wil be taught by Canadian Professors on Qeshm Island. Each course will normally take two weeks with full time residency at Qeshm Island with four weeks elapsed time between each two courses. After this period the successful students will fly to Ottawa, Canada to attend a further two courses. Following these two courses, students will return to Iran to complete the final four courses, again taught by Carleton University professors. | |
