Qeshm Institute of Higher Education

Qeshm Campus, QFA, I.R. Iran

Qeshm Institute of Higher Education (QIHE), being vested with the mission of providing avenues of higher education at an international level of excellence, was established on Qeshm Island. QIHE would accommodate foreign students from neighboring countries, in addition to local students who might otherwise seek similar programs abroad. The international climate and the presence of teaching staff and students from other countries, would provide an international environment to facilitate the exchange of scientific achievement.

QIHE began its activities by offering the Carleton University's Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme in Qeshm Island as from September 2001. The program followed an agreement of academic cooperation between the Qeshm Free Area Authorities and those of Carleton University of Canada. The first cohort consisted of 23 students who successfully completed the first part of the program and went to Ottawa to complete a further three courses. Afterwards they returned to Iran to complete the rest of the programme. Successful students were awarded the Carleton University's Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.

The secound cohort of students, a total of 43, started their studies in September 2002. Since then, every year a new Cohort was recruited and started their studies toward their MBA degree, the latest being the 8th Cohort who started their programme in 2008 and are currently taking their courses.

At the time of release of this page, June 2009, with the permission of Carleton University and that of Iran's Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, QIHE has started to recruit the students of Cohort 9.
